My Project

My students come to school each day ready to learn, grow, and do their best — but many are also facing challenges outside of the classroom. Some students arrive hungry, without access to basic hygiene items, or without essentials that help them feel comfortable and confident throughout the school day.

When basic needs aren’t met, it becomes much harder for students to focus, participate, and feel safe at school.

Hunger, discomfort, or embarrassment can easily become distractions that prevent students from fully engaging in lessons. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel supported not only academically, but personally too.

This project will provide my students with essential items that support their daily well-being, including healthy snacks and personal care supplies. Throughout the school day, students often need quick access to basic necessities such as deodorant, feminine hygiene products, tissues, lotion, and socks. These items may seem small, but they make a huge difference in helping students feel clean, prepared, and confident. When students feel cared for and comfortable, they are more likely to participate, stay focused, and succeed.

In addition, I am requesting protein shakes, protein bars, oatmeal and other healthy snack options to support students who may not have enough food at home or who come to school without breakfast. Having nutritious food available helps students stay energized, improves concentration, and supports their ability to learn.

The items requested fall under Warmth, Care & Hunger because they support students’ basic needs in three important ways: Hunger by providing oatmeal and snacks; Care by offering hygiene and self-care products that promote health and dignity; and Warmth/Well-being by including socks and comfort essentials that help students feel supported each day.

With these resources, my classroom can remain a safe and supportive space where students are ready to learn and thrive.
