This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Winter is coming! My students are still without warm winter coats. Many months of snow, ice, and wind are ahead. My students need warm winter coats and sneakers! Despite hard work and long hours, many of my students' families cannot afford warm winter coats for their children.

During the winter months, if my students don't have coats, they often stop coming to school because it is too cold to walk to school or take the bus without a coat.

Some of my students work and travel across town to help other family members. A quality winter coat will serve as protection from the cold and bolster my students' feelings of self-worth and belonging. It will allow them to focus on age-appropriate concerns, and it will alleviate one burden faced by their parents.
