My Project

As the temperatures drop, many of our students arrive at school without the winter essentials they need to stay warm—hats, gloves, and scarves. For some families, purchasing seasonal gear is a financial challenge, and students often come to school shivering at recess, during arrival, or while waiting for dismissal.

This project will provide cozy, durable winter hats, gloves, and scarves for Van Buren students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

These items will be available for any child who needs them, ensuring that every student can safely enjoy outdoor play, stay comfortable during transitions, and focus on learning rather than the cold.

Warm gear does more than protect students physically—it supports their emotional well‑being. When children feel safe and cared for, they are more confident, more engaged, and better able to participate in classroom activities. Providing winter essentials helps create a school environment where every child feels valued and supported.
