My Students
Our school serves 150 native students from kindergarten through 8th grade with a high poverty rate. 94.8% of our students qualify for the school free and reduced lunch program. These students come from communities with historically few resources.
The well being of our students as well as their ability to succeed academically is affected negatively when they don't have access to basic needs like warm clothing.
Every child deserves to have the chance to be their best possible self. Providing our students with essentials such as warm clothing will help our students thrive!
My Project
Many students at our school do not have access to warm clothing, mainly winter jackets and socks. Most of them also have long commutes to school on the bus, the mornings are especially cold and wet. As the colder weather approaches, we want to make sure our students have warm clothing so they can be comfortable, avoid illness, stay focused and miss as few school days as possible. When students miss too much class time due to illness it is very easy for them to fall behind.
Our goal with this project is to improve our students present so that we can work with them to create their best future.
