This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students are 3rd graders in an urban Las Vegas area. The students in my class are a well rounded group who care about their education. My students get very excited to learn about math. They truly have a passion for the subject. The students love learning math in a variety of different ways. They enjoy hands-on materials and games to strengthen their math skills and strategies. I believe in my students and want to provide them with the best opportunities to succeed.

My Project

Students learn best when they are able to visualize and see the concept with hands-on materials. My students need every possible opportunity to grasp the concept and idea of fractions. They love learning with hands-on materials. The manipulatives are able to give them a concrete example of fractions. When introducing fractions to my students these hands-on materials will help them visualize fractions on a number line and help with the introduction to equivalent fractions. It will hugely benefit my students to have their own hands-on fraction pack because they will be able to share and compare answers with partners. It will hold each other accountable and open for discussion as well as debate of how they received their answer.
