Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our commitment to providing exceptional education to middle school students with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is unwavering, but we need your support to continue making a difference in the lives of these extraordinary students. This coming year, our program will include five core teachers, eleven dedicated paraprofessionals, and numerous other educators who passionately support our students. However, despite our best efforts, we face a critical challenge: communication. In moments when additional support is urgently needed, we cannot afford delays. This is where walkie-talkies become invaluable.
Walkie-talkies serve as our lifeline, especially during challenging situations.
They enable us to swiftly communicate, coordinate, and provide immediate assistance to students when needed. However, our current supply is older, creating static when talking, having a reduced range, and having reduced battery life.
The impact of each staff member having their own, new walkie-talkie would positively impact our communication, enhancing safety, coordination, and efficiency within our classrooms and beyond. Having immediate spares will allow us to seamlessly continue our efforts without delays if one becomes inoperable.
