Wake Up with Morning Tubs and iPads!

My students need iPads to further their individualized learning in literacy stations. I also need more options for Morning Tubs that will require them think and problem solve as well as flexible seating.

My Students

Teachers do not just teach, they inspire! The thing is, my students inspire me on a daily basis to be the best teacher I can be. We have an amazing community in OUR classroom but we need a few things to help that community run more smoothly.

Our school is working hard to become a National School of Character and my kiddos show it!

I have used Morning Tubs for this first time this year to get my students awake and excited for the day which has worked wonders! But the most amazing transformation has come from Morning Meetings. We begin every day by checking in with one another to see what each person needs to help them be successful for the day. Sometimes our discussions are serious and deep, and other times we find we just need to laugh with one another. No matter what we say, we know that we are becoming stronger as a community by showing our T.R.R.F.C.C character traits (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Citizenship and Caring).

My Project

I have incorporated Morning Tubs into my classroom but often feel I don't have enough options to keep my students engaged and excited. That's where your help comes in! Most of the items on my list are for that reason alone. Magna-Tiles, Playstix, and the Building Bricks kits will cause my students to work together as a group to solve problems, build creations and enjoy getting to know one another. I have some flexible seating options in my classroom but they have not held up for the year. I know Lakeshore makes sturdy classroom furniture for children that can be used on a daily basis and withstand anything that comes their way.

We do have iPads in our rooms in our district, but 3 just doesn't cut it when you have 22 students.

iPads are incredibly user friendly and can be used in every single subject area in the classroom. I use them in literacy stations, tutoring, math extension programs and to document student work using SeeSaw.
