Waiting for Super Books: Help My Students Get Books!
My students need these books for guided reading instruction and independent reading time. I will work with 4 students at a time to provide them with support.
Please help my second graders reach higher in their reading. We need new challenging books for our library. Many of the books that we have are below my students' reading levels. My students have asked me to get them new books because they have already read the ones we have too many times. Help!
I teach second grade in a city public school.
All of my students come from low income families. Half of my students come from immigrant families who don't have the resources to buy their children books. My students don't have many books at home. There are no bookstores in their neighborhood. Besides the public library, school is the other place where my students find books to read. It is for this reason that we need a library with many books to promote reading at different levels.
My Project
The books I am requesting are series books that my students don't have at school or at home. These books will help my students become stronger readers and meet the benchmark reading levels for the grade. These books will be used throughout the year when my students read privately or with a partner. Also, these books are great for literature circle discussions about characters. We are waiting for Super Books to become Super Readers!
