My Project

I requesting a class set of the book “Wagon Wheels!” that will be shared with four second grade classrooms. “Wagon Wheels” is based on a true story about Ed Muldie and his family as they travel to Kansas in 1878 to claim land under the Homestead Act.

My students and I come from diverse cultural backgrounds, but we all have one thing in common, we all live in Kansas.

The Muldies’ story will give my beginner readers a glimpse into the homesteaders life and awareness of Black groups in Kansas! Their very own state! I can hear their excitement now.
