Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in an urban district, with every child receiving free lunch due to high poverty. Our school is in jeopardy of being taken over by the state. With a huge financial deficit, it makes it impossible to buy supplies directly through our school system.
Many of my kids have learning disabilities and benefit from hands-on activities at different levels, allowing me to differentiate their classwork.
These children deserve the very best to overcome the poverty cycle and allow them to be college-bound!
My Project
Imagine you're a student again and you walk into your science class, put on a headset, plug it into a laptop and become immersed in Virtual Reality educational experiences and grant you access to the sky, the stars, the planets, how to operate on someone and learn by touching and seeing ALL the human organs and organ systems!!! This laptop with the VR will grant my students access to a 360 view of entire solar system, with a field trip to the museum of Natural History in New York to experience, to factories that make cell phones and you control the outcome, allow students to culture bacteria, track cellular respiration during an exercise routine, even conduct an ultrasound exam on an expectant mother — virtually speaking, of course and not to forget TONS of other free tools and applications to use.
It is able to appeal to even the least responsive of users, therefore leave no student behind.
VR Laptops allows the headset to be compatible are the most stimulating method of learning out there! But what makes VR such a vital tool for education is how it enhances learning and memory recall. Immersing in virtual locations helps us organize and remember information spatially. This is because you associate the information with visual features in the environment. We also require less cognitive load to process it all.
Several studies reveal that virtual reality improves student test scores and knowledge retention and eventually each student will need a headset and laptop for full time distant learning as an alternative way to be taught!
It's all the future and my students WILL be PREPARED!!!
