My Project
We use phonics and language skills day in and day out to learn to read. Vowels aren’t too bad. Once the kids have the concept of letter grouping (consonants and vowels), they seem to naturally follow with the understanding of short and long vowel sounds.
However, digraphs have proven to be a tougher nut to crack.
Many younger kids struggle to wrap their heads around two letters making only one sound. Additionally, at this stage of their lives, many of my kids come to me pronouncing some digraph sounds incorrectly as it is. These decodable readers will help me give the kids the practice that they need to master the skills.
