Learning in a small group is optimal for my students. In my classroom, Kindergarten through fifth grade students will have the opportunity to work in a small group outside of their classroom for targeted learning.
My struggling learners have a great opportunity to practice comprehension strategies in small, targeted groups.
These students are excited for a time to learn outside their typical classroom setting. They will be using materials on their level to help them achieve to their greatest potential.
My Project
In my ELA Basic Skills classroom, I teach students reading and decoding skills. A huge component of reading is vocabulary. With below level readers and ESL students, I need to to teach students how to define unknown words using context clues and breaking words into their parts.
Vocabulary is key to reading!
With the these tools, we can practice vocab in interactive and fun ways. I am hoping to rev up student engagement and build vocabulary skills in the process. This will give my students the ability to read and understand more text they read. Once they are better at reading, they will more excited to read.
