Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the Head Coach for two Varsity sports teams Girls Volleyball at Ferris and Boys Volleyball at LHS both in Jersey City Public School. Our priority is making sure we're able to give our student-athletes the tools they need to learn and grow. Requesting as many volleyballs for players will give us an opportunity to be able to have each athlete have their own ball. During practice or training, a coach will divide everyone into small groups. As a team, everyone can participate inside and outside courts via recreation. We will be able to use our gymnasium size. Having many volleyballs will help with precaution and limit the sharing of equipment. We can use all the equipment to be able to implement many workout stations. Providing all this equipment and volleyballs gives us alternative training. The resistance bands are great for proper technique, but in reality, it is impossible to live in our city without witnessing the pain of homelessness and hunger on our streets. All the equipment gives our student-athletes hope. The statistics are frightening: in our city 1 out of 20 students is without a proper home, and a much larger percentage of our students go through each day without enough money to pay for adequate food and other basic necessities.
