My Project
My students are from Trenton, New Jersey and have faced many adversities. Many live in neighborhoods that are riddled with drugs, violence and rival gangs. Countless students have lost a loved one, friend and family alike, to these iniquities. Through all the challenges and social stumbling blocks that attempt to divide the community, the one thing that brings my students together is music. Students love music! They have earbuds and headphones on all day as they maneuver through the halls to their classes or quietly bop their heads to the rhythm as they eat lunch. The majority are ecstatic when they can listen to music as they work independently. Students share a universal love for music across cultures.
Since music is such a big part of their lives, why not incorporate it with education and an in-depth look into literature?
The Samsung Galaxy Tab, Beats Pro Studio headphones and HP printer will provide my students the tools they need to incorporate music with literature. Using music software like Suno AI on a Samsung Galaxy Tab, paired with Beats headphones, enables students to create and print original songs that examine plot, characters, literary devices, and theme within our Crime Unit curriculum, transforming traditional learning into an immersive, creative process. This integration of technology and music empowers students to engage deeply with complex literature by translating their understanding into artistic expression. Through songwriting, students not only analyze characters and themes but also amplify diverse perspectives, fostering critical thinking, empathy, and cultural awareness while building valuable digital and creative skills.
