My Students
I work with the most dynamic, amazing, and capable students in Los Angeles. My school is Title-1 and in an urban setting. The school and the community has a lot of pride. My goal is to prepare my students so they can accomplish their life and academic goals so the can reinforce and strengthen their community.
I have students who are intelligent and creative.
They want to perform well academically and I want to ensure that their academic performance matches their ability.
My Project
Wordly Wise 3000 is a highly regarded vocabulary instructional program designed to help students expand critical grade level vocabulary and improve reading comprehension. This prepares the students for grade-level literature, content-area reading, textbooks and high-stakes tests.. Student will be working whole group, small group, and independently to complete the activities.
This students will work on vocabulary daily.
The skills and strategies that they acquire in the lessons will support growth across the curriculum. Students are introduce the word list and have the opportunity to turn-and-talk about the meanings. Using varied cooperative learning strategies, students will complete practice activities practice activities with context clues, synonyms and antonyms. The students will read a vocabulary in context passage and answer comprehension questions. Students then use the lesson’s accompanying study set on Quizlet to review answers to the comprehension questions. Students then complete the Vocabulary Extension activity. Students take the lesson test.
