My Project
I teach Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblind students. Many of my students really dislike English and reading, because their primary language is American Sign Language. They often feel that English is too hard and that reading isn't for them.
I also have students who are new to the country and are learning English and American Sign Language!
These resources would be beneficial to the classroom because they directly teach about concepts that many of us incidentally learn through hearing conversations. The resources feature pictures, and English vocabulary, and are designed with high school students and adults in mind. My students appreciate the autonomy of being taught at their maturity level and not with resources designed for young kids. I hope you will consider our project and our classroom!
