I would like to propose that my classes receive an item that we would be able to use in class at all proficiency levels. I serve 59 English as Second Language students this year in small groups from grades 2nd-5th. Their proficiency levels range from Novice (no spoken or understood English) to advanced (speaking, reading, writing somewhat with fluency), and many levels in between. The item I would like to request and make a proposal for is called the Vocabulary Development Center. It is a wonderful collection of hands on items that can be classified into groups. It comes with a big storage container of drawers and labels for the students to sort and categorize. It includes themes (in small objects) such as foods, animals, family, etc, etc... This would be a wonderful hands teaching tool to have in our classroom for all levels of ESL students for vocabulary, spelling, sorting, etc... This will provide years of learning (and fun too!), and I will be able to incorporate this great tool into MANY different lessons for all my groups of 59 students, as well as for my many future students in years to come. Thank you so much. This item and lesson tool will be a wonderful addition to our classroom and ESL program here at Brunson Elementary!! :) Thanks!
