This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love teaching first grade becuase I love seeing all the growth that happens throughout the year. I also just love my first graders!

This is my 19th year teaching first grade at McPherson!

My students are caring, curious, and creative. I think my favorite thing about first graders is how literal they are, and how they take everything you say literallly!

My favorite thing is to share with the students their growth. I have them do a writing sample every month and I love to show them how they have changed over the year and see their faces when they see how much they have learned and where they have come from.

My Project

Please help our class purchase Twist and Turn CVC world builders that we can use to practice our word building skills. Also, please help us to break down numbers with a class set of Visualizing Math Write and Wipe Boards from Lakeshore Learning.

All of these materials are high quality that will be used from year to year.

Students will be able to use these materials on their own as well as whole class to teach new skills and ideas. I also have included heavy duty trays that will help keep these materials clean and safe for years to come.
