Visualize the Solar System!

Help me give my students a 3D planet model and a new rug. I've always wanted a planet model to help the students visualize the order of the planets and explore their relationships with the sun.

My Students

I have a great class! My students are enthusiastic, curious and eager to experience the world. They love to play games, write stories, create projects and dance!

I teach in a Title I school where a large percentage of students come from immigrant families and receive free lunch.

They are from all around the world; the US, India, Bangladesh, Africa, Mexico and South America. This makes our classroom vibrant with many experiences and points of view. Many of my students are ESL learners.

My students love learning about people that have faced adversity in their lives and then have become successful in different ways. They have admired Jessie Owens, Sonya Sotomayor, and Malala Yousafzai to name a few. These people have shown my students the importance of working hard so that they can achieve many things in their lives

I am sure they will prove me right!

My Project

4th graders love learning about space and all it's exciting details. Having a 3D model of the planets going around the sun will allow students to visualize not only the order of the planets, but also how they are related to the sun and to each other.

Students will have opportunities to "play" with the model and manipulate it to examine their ideas and scientific hypotheses.

Having it in the classroom will give them many opportunities to explore it over time, as their knowledge of the topic grows.

Having a new rug, will allow the students more comfort when working in small groups around the room.
