This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are awesome! I have an extremely diverse population of students. I teach Art 1 and have about one hundred and fifty students total.
What makes my school unique is the international students; students coming to the United States from foreign countries and living in Cincinnati are enrolled at my school.
My students are from many different areas of the world including Nepal, Guatemala and Africa just to name a few. Students work hard every day learning to speak English and adapt to their new environment. They love culture and art, and I love letting them experience it in my art room.
My Project
We definitely have faced many challenges so far this year. However, I am extremely proud of my students for adjusting to the ever changing schedule. In an effort to keep everyone safe our school district will be returning to distance learning until further notice.
My students love to express themselves through visual art, in addition, the arts can help relieve some of the stress that has come along with these unprecedented times.
I have requested markers and paper for students to pick up and work with at home. I plan on making packets that students can take home on their home days and continue to be engaged in art and have materials to create from home. The ink will help me create lessons that will assist them in the blended learning process and help develop lessons that can be completed at home. Providing materials to help keep them safe and offering them engaging resources to help with their emotional well-being is very important to me.
