Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
High school students with special needs from low-income backgrounds require targeted support to overcome academic challenges and develop essential skills. Among these skills, visual and fine motor abilities play a crucial role in their educational progress. To address this need, we propose providing specialized school supplies tailored to enhance visual and fine motor skills for these students.
These supplies not only improve visual discrimination skills but also enhance attention to detail and facilitate information processing.
Color pens and highlighters offer students a variety of options for color-coding, highlighting, and organizing their notes and assignments. Additionally, the use of vibrant colors makes learning materials more engaging and accessible for students with special needs. Architectural rulers provide students with precise measurement tools necessary for tasks such as drawing diagrams, graphs, and geometric shapes. By utilizing architectural rulers, students develop spatial awareness, improve hand-eye coordination, and refine fine motor skills required for accurate measurement and drawing. These tools also promote independence and confidence in completing technical tasks.
The positive impact of these specialized school supplies on student performance and confidence is significant. Equipping students with color pens, highlighters, and architectural rulers enhances their ability to organize and understand information, leading to improved academic performance across subjects. As students master the use of these supplies, they experience increased self-esteem and a greater sense of competence in their academic abilities.
