Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second-year Teach For America corps member teaching third-grade in Washington Heights. I have twenty-eight students who all receive free lunch at school. Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre will be performing "Cinderella Samba," a modern Brazilian version of the timeless fairytale. Through colorful sets, divine costumes, and witty exchanges, the puppeteers will bring life to the magical tale on stage. Since my students have previously enjoyed a puppet show on "Snow Queen," it will be wonderful for them to be able to compare and contrasts these two performances. Furthermore, because my students do not take drama class at our school, this performance will help deepen their understanding and appreciation of theatre arts. This performance will definitely make an unforgettable end-of-year field trip. Not only will my students experience a live puppet show, they will also enjoy picnicking and playing in Central Park after the show (weather permitting)! Please help bring my students to see "Cinderella Samba" at Central Park's Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre!
