Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a neighborhood with high levels of poverty and gang activity. Our kids endure many obstacles, and they don't have access to the same technology as their peers.
Despite these obstacles, our students are beautiful kids with kind hearts.
They deserve the same opportunities to succeed in life and to become positive role models within their community. Our teachers spend countless hours outside the work day mentoring and providing emotional support, but any additional support is always sincerely appreciated. Thank you for considering being a part of our positive movement within our community.
My Project
This centralized laptop will continue to enhance the technology-rich classroom that I strive to create. Our school is located in a neighborhood with high levels of poverty and gang activity. Our kids endure many obstacles, and they don't have access to the same technology as their peers.

Students at our school come from a neighborhood with high levels of poverty. One hundred percent of these students qualify for free lunch and do not have access to technology. I am trying to open a classroom computer lab with Chromebooks. We are close to our goal, and adding a centralized laptop/computer will help students store and present work they have created on their notebooks. My students would use these in stations, developing necessary skills to compete in a world run by technology. Our state tests are now taken with tablets/computers, but our kids tend to struggle with the computer interface even before enduring the academic content.
We will be using these Chromebooks to take reading tests (Accelerated Reader), math interactive lessons, conduct research projects, and generate PowerPoint presentations from their research. The centralized computer will create opportunities for students to share their research with their peers.
