Students at our school come from a neighborhood with high levels of poverty. 100% of these students qualify for free lunch and do not have access to technology. I am trying to open a classroom computer lab with Chromebooks. My students would use these in stations, developing necessary skills to compete in a world run by technology. Our state tests are now taken with tablets/computers, but our kids tend to struggle with the computer interface even before enduring the academic content. We will be using these Chromebooks to take reading tests (Accelerated Reader), Math interactive lessons, conduct research projects, and generate PowerPoint presentations from their research. These Chromebooks would help narrow the equity gap for our kids in accessing technology.
