My Students

I am a special education teacher for mild/moderate and severe students with disabilities in 7th-9th grades. At our school, we have an inclusive special education program where students with disabilities are able to attend many of their classes with their same aged peers. In addition to that my students have classes where they work on goals that are made specifically for them.

Our students are happy, energetic, and are eager to learn new things.

They enjoy using technology so they have opportunities to learn in ways that work for them. It is exciting to watch them learn and grow and try new things!

My Project

My students need to be given opportunities to use all of their senses when learning. They require special instruction that is made just for them.

My students learn best with 'hands-on' activities where they are able to move around, have visual representation, and more tactile items in order to retain information.

This can be accomplished by using virtual reality. By using virtual reality my students would be able to have more engaging lessons than they would receive in their regular classes. By using VR I would be able to create more engaging lessons that my students would remember because it would give them more of a visual representation.

My students love learning about different cultures, languages, and parts of the world they have never seen! Using virtual reality would allow my students the opportunity to not only utilize online learning, but would allow them to visually tour areas, and experience the world in ways they may never see. I love my students and would love to see what this technology could do improve their learning and achieve their goals.
