My students are determined hard-workers. Despite the current pandemic we are all going through, they are still committed to learning. The majority of my students come from low-income households and are not able to use the online learning platforms provided for them. However, my students are still eager to send photos of work they have done in physical packets and other paper-based activities that I've been able to provide. They want to stay on top of their learning.
My Project
Many of my students lack technology or have to share it amongst their siblings. Their parents work long hours and simply do not have resources for learning at home. The students attending summer school truly need that extra push to succeed in the next grade level. Summer School normally allows the opportunity for intense one on one instruction, but this year's online version creates an obstacle for many of my kids. These books and materials will allow me to have a physical reference to teach from. I will be able to provide lessons over the phone, through text message, and many other outlets knowing that the students have the books available. I will give my students care packages including the same resources so that we are all able to learn together. This will give parents more flexibility by allowing students to work independently and increase the amount of students able to benefit from summer school.
