My Students

I teach eighth-grade science in the Bronx. I love it. What more can I say? I never intended to become a science teacher; it was an opportunity that was supposed to be temporary, and now I can’t imagine teaching anywhere or anything else!

It’s super important to have access to all of the tools to make the most out of our time in the classroom.

My students work so hard in class, so I do my best to make sure they have the best of the best. They love to learn and soak up everything that is interesting and amazing about the world of science. As they quickly approach high school and NYS regents, there is so much to get ready for. I do my best, not only to prepare them for high school​ but also for college as well.

My Project

I think we are ALL looking for a fresh start in 2021. I have so many students who need to stay organized or LOVE to stay organized. I decided to start a virtual planner club to share all of the things that I love to do- planning ahead, staying organized, prioritizing what needs to get done first. A student suggested I start a club after school and I thought- why not?

Students who choose to participate will get a new planner for the 2021 year- symbolizing a fresh start and the importance of looking ahead.

Things have been so difficult for my remote 8th graders and this is an activity that they will enjoy. It will also teach them so many important skills that most, but not all have. I will deliver the planners, stickers and pens to each of the students who sign up for the club and then we will select a specific time to meet each week. They can share their setups, how they organize their to- do lists and anything artistic they decide to add to their planner. It will be a social outlet for them as well as a benefit to their organizational side as well. So many kids struggle with what to do first, especially when remote, so this will also be a tool they can use in high school next year.
