This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very inquisitive, compassionate, and fun learners. They are hard workers who love learning. In the classroom, we use many different styles of learning as all students learn differently. We are a Title I school. We are in the heart of the area most recently affected by Hurricane Florence. My students are still searching for normalcy after a horrific tragedy. A large portion of the students that attend my school suffered great damage due to the flood water from Hurricane Florence.
As we continue to regain normalcy at our school, students enjoy challenging learning that allows them to use inquiry and problem-solving techniques.
My students spend their day learning through mini-lessons followed by group rotations. These rotations allow me to provide each student with a strong learning touch. After small groups, we as a class reconvene to discuss and bring closure to the lesson through collaboration.
My Project
I am currently teaching 3rd grade remotely from home. With the supplies that I have selected, I plan to use them to support my students and continue instruction. I will use the whiteboard to teach lessons similar to the way I would in the classroom. I will use the other supplies to help aid in instruction. I will use the laminator to create meaningful activities that can be used now by me to present materials to the students and later when my students and I are back together they can physically use them.
No student should have a gap in their education.
I plan to work hard at making sure my students don't have educational decline or gaps due to something completely out of their control. I have selected some books for my students to enjoy while we are on virtual learning. I plan to share the books through read-aloud via my class's private student accounts.
