My Students
My students come from a large, urban high school; mostly from low-income households. They have various cultural backgrounds and many are bilingual. My students are part of a STEAM Academy within the larger school.
My students are adventurous, love hands-on learning, and get excited about everything outside of the box.
I want to be able to bring worldly experiences to my students without necessarily leaving the physical classroom (or their homes).
My Project
My students are constantly asking for field trips. Due to funding, these trips are not possible. As city students in a STEAM Academy, I want to give them these real world experiences. One of the ways I can do that is through virtual field trips using these headsets with their phones.
I have found my students are more likely to come to school and actively participate in their learning when it is visual, their choice, and something hands on.
Virtual field trips will allow my students to explore various locations that connect to their learning and allow stronger connections.
