I teach middle school and high school social studies at a rural school in Northwest Missouri. My students are a diverse group with various learning needs and challenges. They have very little background in economics and world cultures and would benefit greatly from training in this area.
My students are eager to learn about world cultures with technology; this opportunity will increase their engagement and achievement as they experience simulations in economics and virtual field trips around the world.
Despite the hardships and challenges many of my students face, they walk into school every day full of life and eager to learn. They are excited to learn new things with technology in my classroom. They currently have limited exposure to world cultures and careers in economics. They would benefit from training in budgeting for a virtual reality field trip. This project will help introduce them to these concepts and provide them with a better understanding of the world and economics in general.
My Project
The Oculus Go Virtual Reality Headset will help my students learn about budgeting and world cultures as they plan a field trip around the world. After budgeting the trip, my students will take the virtual field trip and then using a green screen app, they will take selfies of themselves visiting several of the sites around the world that they visited.
Students will increase engagement and achievement as they use technology to learn about budgeting and world cultures.
They will travel virtually to places that they otherwise would not have the opportunity to visit. In addition to learning financial literacy skills, my students will also learn about geography and technology!
