This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach third-grade students with a wide range of learning abilities and skills. The majority of my students come from low-income families with limited academic resources.
My classroom and teaching are created for exploration, inquiry, and creation.
I want to create an environment where all students are comfortable in their learning and exploring. Many of the students have not reached their comfort level as of yet.
With our school becoming more advanced in STEM education, we want our students to have access to ample amounts of resources to connect them to the real-world and open their minds to new, innovative ways of thinking.
My Project
Book clubs have been found to enhance students' learning in various ways such as developing language skills, making predictions, and exposure to other perspectives. I utilize book clubs and book studies in my classroom to expose to creativity and meaningful discussions. My students love to use what they have learned in the various books to recreate their own stories or make connections in their lives.
For the school year 2020-2021, I will be teaching the majority of my students virtually, therefore they need books to be able to use at home.
They will be able to follow along like they are in a brick and mortar classroom while still in the comforts of their home. This project will assist students in having their own copy of the focused books that they can enjoy over and over again!
