I teach Drama at Colleton County High School in Walterboro, SC. My "Department" consists of myself. I have little budget allotment from the county or school, so every dime we raise goes toward scripts, royalties and props. In the past 4 years we have managed to stage the first plays performed here since the school was built in the mid-eighties. We don't have our own camera, so we depend on the Art department's graphics class each year. However, the tapes from our performances have had various issues. The first two years are so quiet you can't hear them, and the third year's tape didn't include the second (and final) act, then it was taped over by an art student. Last year's play was not taped at all, because the Video Production class' cameras were all in the shop. Using a video camera would help the students see their own work while still in the rehearsal process, as well as give us a recorded history of our productions. Taping rehearsals adds immeasurably to confidence and to the lessening of stage fright. Our district is both poor and rural, so our students have few opportunities for drama programs beyond ours and the local Arts Council. We would greatly appreciate any aid we may receive in this endeavor
