My creative, eager students are an inclusion class in a low socioeconomic community. Our class combines special need and general education students. They learn to build acceptance for different students and how to help each other as they learn. Some students have never been in a classroom while others have been in structured environments for years. I have witnessed some of the most challenging students become the biggest helpers of their classmates. My kids love to learn about places outside of their community and explore, explore, explore.
Our theme as a grade is a quote from a 3rd grade class in Philadelphia: "I can push through anything I put my mind to".
As a Title 1 school working on becoming accredited, Kindergarten is charged to set a great foundation. My students want to do their best!
I would like purchase Please touch plant kits and Monarch butterfly kits for my classroom. As I begin the second half of the school year, I review successful strategies from the previous year. Our school is located in a low socioeconomic community that has a desire for better for their children. My kids loved S.T.E.M activities and were encouraged to expand their thinking through these activities.
I want to make it easier for my students to experience hands on learning through project based learning.
I found that even my challenging students were able to explain and expand their observations of plant growth, development and even compare and contrast different types of plants. In addition, my kids talked about what they learned long after the lessons were done.
We have a plant and animal module in Kindergarten, so I want to provide the same research opportunity using butterflies.
This community needs to have diverse experiences so they see the possibilities for their children. Hands on projects and learning, in a comfortable work setting, are essential for teaching them to be self-thinkers.
