Vertical Whiteboards Support Math Tasks in a Thinking Classrooms

Help me give my students 3 dry-erase boards to use for mathematical tasks.

My Project

Students will use whiteboards daily in math class. Peter Liljedahl's book, "Building Thinking Classrooms," discusses the value of whiteboards that students stand up at rather than working while seated.

Large erase boards will be arranged vertically around the classroom, displaying math problems and student's reflections.

This setup will create opportunities for students to collaborate, plan, discuss, and even create problems by applying their learning without the constraints of using paper and pencil.

The use of whiteboards will allow students to take risks in their learning as they can easily erase mistakes. This approach will also help students become more engaged in their education. My aim is to develop students who aren't afraid of challenges.
