I teach at a public K-3 elementary school in a small rural community. The population in which we serve is one that appreciates everything we do for their children to make them successful and productive adults in society. My students come from high poverty homes. The families we serve are from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
The poverty level is so intense that we have a food bank within our school.
Our school is very much the nucleus of the community. Parents rely on the school to be part of their family. They rely on us to advocate for their children. We promote hands-on learning. We encourage imagination and creativity.
My Project
My students come from a high poverty community. We are planning a STEAM night where students are immersed in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. This will give them an unique opportunity to experience all of the elements of STEAM.
This project will allow them to design an unique vehicle that they make keep.
Resources are limited for our area and the hands-on experience that this will bring will have real meaning to our students. Thank you for helping us give this opportunity to our students. These are the activities that leave a lasting impression on the lives of students. This is what they remember about school!
