I have been creating core boards with language and vocabulary specifically tailored to each book we read in our curriculum which allows them to more effectively communicate and interact with the texts and their teachers and classmates during instruction. Building language and communicating are a huge focus in our classrooms and having the ability to provide color resources that exactly match the texts we are using is a game changer. We have also been able to print and produce sensory break cards that allow us to meet the sensory needs of our students in the general eduction classroom, providing more opportunity for peer to peer interaction and regulation opportunities for all students during whole class sensory/movement breaks. With these cards, students have been able to become the leaders of these breaks, giving them ownership of our classroom routines and a chance to be a leader. I am looking forward to prepping even more materials to be ready for next school year. The alphabet and counting maze games have been a wonderful addition to the morning routine in our classroom as well. Students choose to complete these activities individually or with classmates, working on their fine motor, number and letter identification and counting skills.
