My Project

Students in middle school struggle with being cool and fitting in with friends.

Vaping is an epidemic that is tempting many of our youth.

In this project students will study the dangers of vaping and then make public service posters for the whole school. The posters will outline the dangers of vaping, long-term and short-term effects, school consequences, as well as alternatives to vaping and language to quit or refuse a vape.

Learning outcomes:

Students will understand the social, academic, and physical impacts of vaping.

Students will collaboratively create PSA posters to share wellness information about vaping for prominent display at school. They will use paints, markers, pictures from magazines (glue sticks), stickers, and letters to craft their poster. The tape will help secure the posters to our walls.

This project connects to the theme of Promoting Wellness in that students will be displaying the dangers of vaping along with healthy alternatives and resources. Having the posters come from the students will be powerful because they are peers.
