Although I had been teaching for 24 years, I started the new school year in a new district. I teach 4th graders in the neighboring district to where I live. The district is implementing a new reading program that I'm excited to use. In social studies, we will enjoy Mystery Skypes with other classes around the country and use our Chromebooks to learn. In math, students use hands-on activities and small group learning to master math standards. For science, my students will learn using hands-on STEM activities.
We work hard and like to use a variety of resources to learn.
Print resources, hands-on activities, project based learning, and collaborative learning are ways that my 4th graders learn.
I have great resources and strategies for for teaching my students 4th grade math and filling in any gaps students might have in their learning. I, however, do not have any independent activities for my high achievers who catch on to 4th grade concepts easily.
For my project, I am asking for a 5th Grade VersaTiles Math Classroom Kit to use with my high achievers in math.
These VersaTiles are an amazing tool because my student will be able to independently check their work using the picture once 12 problems are solved correctly. My students will be able to practice their skills and self check their own work while they are quietly working.
Using VersaTiles in my classroom will allow my students to have hands-on application of advanced math concepts.
