This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students grow different plants for different labs throughout the school year, and it would be an amazing experience for them to document their labs with a time-lapse camera. A time-lapse camera would allow my students to experience plant growth from a different perspective. Time-lapse video would show students that plants do, in fact, move, and they are triggered by various responses (geotropism, phototropism, etc). Labs would be enhanced with the use of a time-lapse camera. Students could also take a time-lapse video of any type of lab to show to other classes and students. This would allow students to collect data and create reports that are even more informative. Students will also have a chance to review the plant growths over and over, which will also help them solidify their understanding, especially for my special needs students.

Using a time-lapse camera would allow my students to experience their lab activities in a whole new way!

Time-lapse recording of plant growth could produce whole new data sets and types of observations. Using a time-lapse camera in the lab would also excite students to become more interested in lab activities and experience plants in a whole new way. Many of my students already have a lot of experience with plants, but very few (if any) have experience using time-lapse cameras.
