Using Technology to Bridge the Gap

Help me give my students Apple iPads to help strengthen their technology skills and also to help translate material into their native language

My Students

My students are non-native English speakers. They vary from 9th Grade to 12th grade students. Hard-working students are at a disadvantage due to a language barrier. They must pass 4 state tests in addition to regular credit requirements in order to graduate. Most materials and resources only come in English so our students are often left behind. Also, my students often come from cultural backgrounds in which technology is lacking. Many of the classrooms have incorporated technology on a regular basis, however my students are lacking the skill set to be successful in the mainstream classroom. My students need materials and resources to help them be successful in all academic areas.

My Project

These Ipads will help my non-native English speakers become more familiar with technology. It will also allow them to translate lengthy passages into their native language. The Ipad gives them the ipad to translate passage at once instead of translating one word at a time.

Students are in mainstream classrooms and need help to understand the content.

These Ipads will help to alleviate some of the challenges they face on a daily basis. It also helps them complete assignments in my classroom since many of them do not have technology at home. Having access to these resources will help them to be successful in all of their classes. Ultimately, these resources will help them to reach their goal of graduating.
