This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students range from freshmen to seniors, all with Learning Disabilities/Dyslexia. They are part of a Multisensory Structured Literacy program to improve their reading and writing. Although they are high school students, they are all far below their grade level, reading between Kindergarten and 4th grade levels. This is a difficult gap as we work on basic phonics and literacy skills, which at times is unmotivating to high school students.

As high schoolers, they are very motivated and interested in tech, so I want to incorporate this with their reading instruction.

This tablet will allow me to incorporate fun reading apps into activities to supplement their reading instruction. It will be used as students complete lessons or assignments and have some time while others are still working. I hope that they will become more motivated with their reading which will in turn improve their reading levels. Thank you in advance for your support.
