My Project

Empathy, compassion, and making responsible decisions are qualities we hope to teach our students as they journey toward physical literacy.

Physical education class is an ideal environment for fostering positive social-emotional choices and building soft skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, adaptability, critical thinking, and leadership.

Adding some fun elements to our standing physical education curriculum can spark a deeper interest in some pivotal world issues. With pool noodles and animal bean bags, we can play games like Animal Rescue and explore global themes like animal conservation, environmental protection, and human ecological footprints, while simultaneously developing motor skills, manipulative skills, and social-emotional skills. Playing thematic games gives students experiences connected to real-world issues, helping them develop meaning for the work they do in school and beyond. Working together, they learn important collaborative skills and discuss ideas with peers to practice making the type of choices that will positively impact the world they are growing into.
