My Students

My students are eager to learn about the world around them. We love studying different cultures, reading about our fascinating planet, writing about our experiences and dreams, and sharing fun stories and ideas with each other.

We are an alternative school that specializes in special education.

Even though we live in a state funded by tourism dollars, many of us have never ventured beyond our own neighborhoods. Reading about our world is the first step in making our global ideas and dreams a reality.

We need your help to soar to new horizons. Many of our kids receive intensive behavioral therapy and/or psychiatric therapy. Receiving engaging resources from Donors Choose shows our sweet kids that people really do care about them and want them to succeed.

My Project

My students need exciting texts that are engaging and meaningful to them. They are not your typical tween or teenager; my students need real talk and consistent guidance.

I'm asking for teaching resources to support units on the classic novel "The Lord of the Flies" as well as a contemporary favorite for my younger students.

In addition, a reading group set of the Ray Bradbury classic, "The Illustrated Man" will be a welcome addition to our district. I've never seen this thought-provoking novel on the shelves of our district's libraries, and I believe it will have a great and lasting impact on my students.

Reading is a chore for a great many of my students, so I want to spark a lasting desire for adventure in them.
