Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth graders are a group of students that are creative, inquisitive, and problem solvers. They love researching and delving into content to learn more about specific topics.
Learning how to read nonfiction texts and the use of the text features and graphic features an author provides, is an ongoing skill that I want to teach and practice with my eager learners.
My Project
I truly believe that placing the right materials in the hands of my students will motivate them to engage with the news around the world by sparking their interests and making connections with grade-level appropriate texts. It is important to use a reliable source with relevant articles to do so.
I plan to set up a reading center that would house their nonfiction magazine and make them available for them to interact with them.
I think it is important for them to be able to manipulate the text by allowing them to annotate and highlight pieces of information that are important.
