My Project

Percent and discounts are used every day when people go shopping. Stores often reduce prices during sales. A calculator helps us quickly find the discount amount, sale price, or original price. In this project, we learn how calculators help solve these problems.

Key Vocabulary

Percent (%) – A number out of 100.

Example: 25% means 25 out of 100.

Original Price – The price before the discount.

Discount – The amount of money taken off the original price.

Sale Price – The final price after the discount.

People use calculators to quickly find discounts when shopping during sales such as holiday sales or clearance sales. This helps customers know how much money they save and how much they will pay.
