My Students

I work in a large inner-city, low-income district. My students are all unique, caring, and excited to learn. My students' ages range from 3-5 and come from various economic and cultural backgrounds. The majority of the students in my classroom are English Language Learners. I work with students who have disabilities including but not limited to Autism, Down Syndrome, Developmental Delay, Physical Disability and Speech Delays/Disorders.

My students are not defined by their disabilities but rather on their individual personality and interests.

My Project

Creative play is a vital part of childhood and child development. Through creative and imaginative play children can grow emotionally, socially, intellectually, and even physically.

Creative experiences help a child develop these skills and enable them to share their thoughts, feelings and ideas.

Dramatic play can be defined as a type of play where children accept and assign roles, and then act them out. It is a time when they can pretend to be someone or something different from themselves, and dramatize situations and actions to go along with the roles they have chosen to play. The benefits of dramatic play can also include language, communication, teamwork, and life skills
