My students need these Dry Erase Boards, maps and headphones to participate in our 1:1 setting. We have moved to providing student technology, but there just isn't enough provided for students of low income to receive equitable education.
As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of my students are being raised in single parent households and receive free or reduced lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Despite the challenges they may face,
I am looking for ways to provide my students with opportunities to be creative and successful while having meaningful learning experiences.
For US History specifically, I want to help them be prepared to be knowledgeable citizens so that they may better help change the nation for the better.
My Project
This is my fourth year teaching at our incredible and incredibly diverse High School. I will be moving departments from English to History--specifically US History from Special Education to AP US History. For this switch, I want to create an enriching environment.
For many, high school is a place of exclusion--I want to change that in my US History Classroom.
Students who are low in come, have low cognitive abilities, and just don't feel as though they fit in find sanctuary in my classroom. Funding this project will help them do that for a new age of technology and US History specifically.
