Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in our class are resilient, hard-working, enthusiastic, dedicated and most importantly, kind-hearted. In our Special Day class, students know the importance or persevering through learning challenges by trying their best and accepting new challenges as we come across them. As schools are receiving less funding year after year, students' access to relative technology is limited. Nevertheless, my students are always eager to work on the computers available to them, without caring if they are outdated because they are motivated to learn!
Acquiring 21 century Chromebooks, students will have access to technology that can adapt to their needs, rather than working with technological tools that are outdated and cannot support new programs to support student growth.
Chromebooks are not a luxury for the students in our community, but a necessity to be up to date with the latest essential literacy content and tech designs.
My Project
Our special day class will benefit through equitable access of technology with adaptable programs that allow them to learn academics and remain up to date with technology skills. 21st century technology is evolving everyday, and my students should have the opportunity to be a part of that evolution.
With these requested two Dell Chromebooks, students will fortify their mathematics skills and acquire new and fun ways to learn math facts, addition and subtraction strategies, counting, identifying number commonalities, as well as building number sense through adaptive applications that are comprehensive to their performance skills.
As English learners, students will also have the opportunity to strengthen language skills and academic language in the world of Mathematics, real world problems, coding, and sciences.
Being in a low socioeconomic community, students don't always have access to the latest technology, or other meaningful learning resources! Access to technology will also provide students with meaningful activities during their center times, and students will be able to use technology that challenges them as their knowledge grows. Having technological devices available for personal use can give students individualized attention special needs students need in order to work at their own pace.
