My students are struggling students and low skilled readers. They don't have the reading stamina to read complex texts and many haven't read a book since middles school. My students are already devouring the books I have collected from previous donations and thrift shopping, but I can't keep up with them.
I am trying to build life-long readers by filling my classroom library with high interest reads.
In this way, I will help encourage their love of reading while building their skills at the same time!
Already, my classroom library can't keep up with the high number of students I have in grades 9-11. I am in need of more books to continue the reading success I am seeing in my classroom. Student get 10-15 minutes every day to establish a "reading flow" during Sustained Silent Reading or SSR.
By helping with this project, you will help me build a love of reading and improve the mental health, literacy skills, and empathy skills in my teenagers' lives.
Please help me to put good, powerful and relevant books into the hands of these eager readers and learners.
