My Project

Our elementary school library serves over 300 general and special education students who are eager for new and updated books to accelerate their reading interests and abilities. Students at our school go to our library once per week to listen to a story and or lesson, as well as to check out books for classroom and home reading. Unfortunately, our current selection of books isn't caught up to the interests and abilities of our students.

Being able to receive updated choices of age appropriate chapter books and graphic novels would be extraordinarily beneficial for our young readers.

When students have access to books that spark their individual interests, they are more likely to read for pleasure and grow in their reading abilities.

If this project is funded, as the school librarian I plan to reorganize our library in a way that will showcase these new books, and give our wonderful students the opportunity to start a new reading adventure that may lead them to more learning opportunities.
